Warrior Aspect

1The LORD is king!
Let the earth rejoice!
Let the farthest coastlands be glad.
2Dark clouds surround him.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3Fire spreads ahead of him
and burns up all his foes.
4His lightning flashes out across the world.
The earth sees and trembles.
5The mountains melt like wax before the LORD,
before the Lord of all the earth.
6The heavens proclaim his righteousness;
every nation sees his glory.
7Those who worship idols are disgraced—
all who brag about their worthless gods—
for every god must bow to him.
8Jerusalema has heard and rejoiced,
and all the towns of Judah are glad
because of your justice, O LORD!
9For you, O LORD, are supreme over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.
10You who love the LORD, hate evil!
He protects the lives of his godly people
and rescues them from the power of the wicked.
11Light shines on the godly,
and joy on those whose hearts are right.
12May all who are godly rejoice in the LORD
and praise his holy name!

There's some aspects of God I rarely hear preaching about in churches but I believe it bears looking into.  Just a few things I think we've missed.  I have shared Psalm 97 and it says "Righteousness and Justice are the foundations of his throne."  It describes fire burning up God's foes.  Something my brain has a bit of a disconnect with at times is the aspect of God being the King of Heaven's Armies.  At churches we spend a lot of time talking about the love of God which is all good but it dawned on me that when we pray and cast our cares on a loving God in order for him to take care of our problems sometimes God has to be the warrior defending his people.  The Old Testament is full of moments where God literally fought battles for Israel.  Battle of Jericho, Escape from Egypt, David vs Goliath to name a few and Elijah calling fire down from heaven.  Revelation 12:7-12 Satan is referred to as the one who accuses the brothers and sisters day and night.  If you read Job 1:6-8 it reminds us Satan is still subject to God and our Mighty King on his throne keeps him in check at all times.  I just wanted you to look at the warrior aspect and remember there is a spiritual war going on.  We often forget and we serve a King who goes before us, behind us, and around us and the battle belongs to the Lord!
