Not ashamed 1 Timothy 1:6-10

I deal with Fear and Willpower more than the normal person because i am a fan of the Green Lantern comics.  I was going to work that into an illustration but I was reminded of something a friend had told me back in 1996 which has stuck with me for yrs.  I'm not sure if it was original to her or not.  "Fear knocked at the door; Faith answered but there was no one there."  --Rhonda Sliger.  Let's learn some things about our faith.

6.  "This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid hands on you."  Think of a fireplace it starts with a few logs and some matches then you have a small fire.  I watched my dad for yrs build a fire in a bbq pit and he started out with small fires but sometimes he needed a good sized fire he would feed that flame with a fan.  We have to feed our faith and relationship with God in order for it to grow.
7.  "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love and self- discipline."  Did you catch the math problem here?  God gives=Power, Love, Self-Discipline>fear.  See math can be fun.
8.  "So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord.  And don't be ashamed of me either even though I'm in prison for him.  With the strength God gives you be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News."  God gives us the strength and ability to not be ashamed and suffer for him.
9.  For God saved us and called us to live a holy life.  He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time--to show us grace through Christ Jesus."  See also Ephesians 2:1-10
10.  "And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus our Savior.  He broke the power of death and illuminated the way of life and immorality through the good news,"

Psalm 50

Some of you know i spent well over a yr and a half on the book of Psalms.  This week i was reading and came across Psalms 50 and it just got my attention.  I doubt i ever even did anything with this chapter before but it bears looking at.

1.  "The Lord, the Mighty One, is God and he has spoken; he has summoned all humanity from where the sun rises to where it sets."  When i hear the word "summoned" i always hear this voice in my head.  In the 80's we had the real Transformers animated movie.  Orson Wells voiced a planet called Unicron and spoke this phrase "I have summoned you here for a purpose.  God summoned all humanity in this verse so that includes you and me and we need to pay attention.
2.  "From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty God shines in glorious radiance."  Think of the old song as you dwell on this verse.  "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."
3.  "Our God approaches and he is not silent.  Fire devours everything in his way and a great storm rages around him."  In our world we have gotten so accustomed to saying mother nature in regards to weather we often fail to acknowledge God is in control and he makes it do what he chooses."
4-6.  "He calls on the heavens above and the earth below to witness the judgement of his people.  Bring my faithful people to me- those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.  Then let the heavens proclaim his justice for God himself will be the judge."  We just stepped into God's courtroom.
7.  "O, my people, listen as i speak.  Here are my charges against you, O Israel; I am God your God!"  God didn't leave any room for discussion.
8-13.  In these verses God establishes his self sufficiency he doesn't need humans we need him.
14.  "Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High."  This is what God wants from you and me.
15.  "Then call on me when you are in trouble and I will rescue you and you will give me glory."  Think back to when you may have taking a writing course.  This verse is something we all learned break it down and you have a perfect example of cause and effect.
16-20.  God describes the actions of the wicked.
21.  "While you did all this I remained silent and you thought I didn't care, but now I will rebuke you listing all my charges against you."  Judgement day is coming and God has been paying attention to everything.
22.  "Repent, all of you, who forget me or I will tear you apart and no one will help you."  Pretty straightforward repent and turn back to God.
23.  "But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.  If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God."  God wants our thanks and praise.

Hebrews 13:15-16
15Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.16And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.…

I found the lyric video for this one because i think everyone should learn this song.

Choose you this day

I was recently brought to a question i had to struggle with and what I'm about to say and bring to your attention may unsettle some people but if it does i hope God uses it as a wake up call.  I listened as these ladies had a conversation one being a person who claims to follow God and the other doesn't.  This is what got to me the Bible clearly speaks against sexual immorality and homosexuality.  I heard the alleged Christian say "My pastor's have all sorts of reasons and excuses about why they think homosexuality is a choice and not something people are born with and I know what the Bible says but that doesn't matter people will love who they want to."  before i go any further let's see exactly what the Bible does say before i get to my question.  Romans 1:24-28.  "So God abandoned them to do Whatever shameful things their hearts desired.  As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each others bodies.  They traded the truth about God for a lie.  So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise amen!  That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires.  Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.  And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other.  Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.  Since they thought it was foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done."  My next thought after listening to this lady was this.  Why is this lady even going to church if God's word doesn't matter and she's not going to listen to the pastor's teaching her?  Just stay home lady there's no reason for you to go.  Church has become a social club because you choose not to see sin as being sin and you are making your own choices about what parts of God's word is going to apply to you.  Now pay attention and get this thru your head I am not picking out one sin over another I'm simply showing through scripture what God says so if anyone reading this wants to get mad it's not Zac you're mad at but what God says about sin.  If coming to know God when you go to church and read his word is not your priority then your life is out of whack.  God sent Mosses to Pharaoh many times and if you read Exodus it says Pharaoh hardened his heart then suddenly it says God hardened his heart.  I began praying for this lady asking God to break her heart and get her attention.  We don't have the liberty to pick and choose God's commands.  in Revelation 3:15-16 we find God challenging a church to take a stand for him.  "I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold, I wish that you were one or the other!  But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold I will spit you out of my mouth!"  People i appeal to you and so does God take a stand against sin and stand for what's right and wrong.  If you participated in homosexuality or any other sin God says you can be made clean by his blood.  for those of you who are already followers of God 1 Corinthians 6:11 says this "Some of you were once like that.  But you were cleansed; you were made holy: you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."  For the Christians reading this I'm hereby challenging you to stand firm and and put Christ as first priority in your life and stop playing church.  I''m going to leave you with the words of Joshua 24:14-15.  "So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly.  Put away forever your idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt.  Serve the Lord alone.  But if you refuse to serve the Lord then choose today whom you will serve Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates?  Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live?  But as for me and my family we will serve the Lord."     Are you going to follow God or just pretend to to?
