Philippians 4:4-9

Just a little bit of a news update before we get into the Bible study.  The Batcave has been going on now for almost 2 an 1/2 yrs either in person or online I've been praying about this lately and I'm going to take a bit of a vacation after this latest blog and will resume things the first week of August.  so i wanted to be sure and give everyone a heads up before they started asking questions.

There is a war raging in our minds.  If you are a follower of God it's a war that is subtle but when you pay attention it's there.  In fact it's a mental minefield.  If you need a mental image in your head to get the horror that is a minefield Rambo 4 and Sweepers are both movies that depict it well.  It's so easy to be negative.  my wife and i are 2 of the most stubborn and hard headed people ever.  The hardest thing for us during a fight is to stop and pray.  we all need an attitude adjustment.  in the mental minefield we need to follow the words of 2 Corinthians 10:5 "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

4.  "Always be full of joy in the Lord.  I say it again rejoice."   Joy is not something we come by naturally we have to seek God for it.
5.  "Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.  Remember the Lord is coming soon."
6.  "Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done."  This past Sunday Pastor Kacy Benson said something that floored me.  See he and I share a common worry and that would be money.  Yet he admitted he seldoms thinks to pray about money.  It was a well duh why didn't i think of that moment.  I'm not saying to pray to be rich but pray and ask God to help you with bills.  Then thank Him when he provides.
7.  "Then you will experience God's peace which exceeds anything we can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."  Peace comes from trusting God.  It's not rocket science no really it's not.
8.  "And now dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.  Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable, and right and pure and lovely and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."  I have a friend named Mr. Wilson and i can in my head hear him saying this phrase "Think boy think."
9.  "Keep putting into practice all you have learned and received from me--everything you heard from me and saw me doing.  Then the God of peace will be with you."

Back away from social media, tv, movies and music and seek God.
You need it and he wants time with you.
