Colossians 1:20-23

There's an old hymn that has been playing on my mp3 player a lot lately.  It's called Blessed Assurance.  In this rapidly changing world we need some assurance of Christ's work of reconciliation.  In Colossians 1:5-20 Paul explains the supremacy of Christ and how God used him to give us our blessed assurance.

20."  "And through him God reconciled everything to himself.  He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross."  A sacrifice was needed for reconciliation and only Jesus Christ could meet the requirements.
21."  This includes you who were once far away from God.  You were his enemies separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions."  You and i needed a savior.
22.  "Yet now he has reconciled you to himself.through the death of Christin his physical body."  Jesus became flesh and blood to die for your sins and mine.  "As a result he has brought you into his own presence and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault."  "Clean clean I'm clean before my Lord like a spotless lamb I'm blameless in his sight with no trace of wrong left or right."  Let that sink in.
 23.  "But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it.  Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the worl, and I Paul have been appointed as God's servant to proclaim it."

God has reconciled you to himself by his son's death on a cross.  Stand firm in that good news and be assured you are clean in his sight."
