Dead on the inside

Dead on the inside

I have seen a lot of memes and posts on Facebook and what they say saddens me immensely.  It will talk about liking something or another or having some emotion or feelings towards something and then end with "But you're already dead on the inside."  The unbeliever is dead in their sins.  God desires better for us.  You don't have to be dead inside you can be alive in Christ!  Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved."  When Jesus died on the cross he made a way to free you from being a dead man walking.  When you spend time going through the Bible you find God's love story to redeem sinful man. Referring to his purpose and Satan, this is what Jesus had to say.  John 10:10 "The Thief's purpose is to steal kill and destroy.  My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life."
I have been reading in the book of Hosea and if you've never been through this portion of the Old Testament it is a unique story of God's love.  He told Hosea to marry a prostitute and she was to be an example of the nation Israel constantly forsaking God.  Chapter six is a call to repentance and I believe it's a wake up call to people saying they are or want to be dead on the inside.  Wake up and consider God has and always will have a better idea.  Listen to the passion in Hosea 6:4-7.  "'O Israel and Judah, what should I do with you? Asks the Lord.  'For your love vanishes like the morning mist and disappears like dew in the sunlight.  I sent my prophets to cut you to pieces-- to slaughter you with my words, with judgments as inescapable as light.  I want you to show love not offer sacrifices.  I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.  But like Adam you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust."  Salvation is found only in Christ and he can make you alive and not dead on the inside.  There is no other way.  Let me let the Apostle Peter explain it to you.  Acts 4:8-12 "Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, 'Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we've done a good deed for a crippled man?  Do you want to know how he was healed?  Let me clearly state to all of you and to the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.  For Jesus is the one referred to in the scriptures, where it says, the stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.  There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved."  If You want to stop being dead on the inside salvation through Christ alone will make you truly alive inside and out.  See this is what is said of the Christian.  Ephesians 2:1-10
"1Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.2You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.a He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
4But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."
 and Colossians 2:13.
"You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins."

Your day of salvation makes you alive and becomes your Independence Day.

Turn around

Turn around

"Turn around bright eyes. But every now and then I fall apart."  Simply put we're often looking the wrong way. We need to turn around.  Titus 2:11-15 gives us the right direction. Multiple times I have tried to tell people this.  In my motorcycle safety course the instructor told us this phrase that is as true for a motorcycle as it is for life.  "Where you look is where you go."  Let's look at Paul's words to Titus.  "For the Grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.  And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures.  We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God while we look forward with hope to the wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ will be revealed.  He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.  You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them.  You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don't let anyone disregard what you say."  You and I are to live wisely in this evil world and encourage others to do so.  Turn to God and live right for our hope is in him.  He is in the process of changing us.
Romans 12:2 "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good pleasing and perfect."

"You father the orphan
Your kindness makes us whole
And you shoulder our weakness
And your strength becomes our own
Now you're making me like you
Clothing me in white
Bringing beauty from ashes
For you will have your bride.

Free of all her guilt and rid of all her shame and known by her true name."

Being changed by God is a journey!  Should you not think that being changed is a beneficial journey let me refer you to this passage in Psalms 1:1-3
"Oh the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand with sinners, or join in with mockers.  But they delight in the law of the Lord meditating on it day and night.  They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do."
