Psalms 36:5-9

I've honestly had a week of strange things and I found myself heavily turning to God.  After my problem was resolved I found myself thankful and at the same time needing a little dose of hope.  I read this passage and it restored my soul  

Psalms 36:5-9 

"Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.  Your Righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.  How precious is your unfailing love, O God!  All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.  You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.  For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see."

Prior to writing this i was sitting at the security booth and a little rabbit showed up and the little guy made me smile.

Understanding King David

The third thing i wanted to share with you all is actually an e-mail I sent to Pastor Greg on this past Saturday.  I was at work doing extra time and it was so slow I started reading a familiar passage in the bible and even though i had heard lots of sermons on it this was the first time it made sense to me.  


Greg you have on more than one occasion told me that I understand King David in a way others don't.  I was just reading 2 Samuel 13 and in verses 1-6 God has sent Nathan to confront David about his sin with Bathsheba and he tells David this story about a man with one sheep and a rich man with many.  I've read this many times but it clicked in my head tonight why God used that story and it made David as the New Living Translation put it "furious".  It's because David was a shepherd as a boy.  It suddenly made sense to me that God met David on a level he understand and he knew it would make him react.  I'm blown away by that.  So many times God uses things I relate to to get my attention.  Now after reading this I'm just going "hey David this is a wake up call."

 Within about an hour he sent me this response which to me was incredibly cool because I knew he was in Israel but the timing and topic of my e-mail was just unbelievable.  Check out his reply 

Thanks Zac. That is awesome. I believe this very day I will see the Tower that King David first saw Bathsheba as I am in Israel with Micah and a group. That's so cool

A tale of Answered prayer.

I wanted to share with all of you another answered prayer and it's a wee bit romantic.  Wednesday night I got off work and Marion and I went to Wendy's.  I was incredibly tired and worn out.  I could barely pay attention.  I hadn't seen my wife till my shift ended.  Before I ate I started praying and I said simply.  "Lord please help me show Marion I love her because I am so tired and worn down."  We got home and we live in a small house.  Three bedrooms, living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms.  With 2 people and an 80 lbs German Shepherd/Beagle mixed dog it's easy to run into each other.  Marion stopped in the hallway and was talking to me.  I just wrapped her in a hug till our dog Mara decided we weren't paying attention to her.  I told Marion later that moment was an answer to prayer.  Make the people in your life important.  God placed them there for a reason.

Mindful


At my job I spend a majority of my time with a view of the port of Corpus Christi.  There's water, boats, dirt, rocks, the horizon, trees, barges and refineries.  I was telling my friend Becky Meyers Sunday when I look around I'm brought back to Psalms 8:4 "What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them."  A few years back Christian musician Rich Mullins penned a song called Here in America and the chorus says this.  "And if you listen to my songs I hope you hear the water falling.  I hope you feel the oceans crashing on the shores of north New England I wish I could be there just to see them, two summers past I was and the Holy King of Israel loves me here in America."  Becky told me she had been at a bonfire and being there at the beach focused her thoughts on God.  Go outside this week and slow down and see "The heavens proclaim the glory of God the skies display His Craftsmanship."
