But he did

But He did

At one point I was online and I came across an extremely arrogant and demeaning statement.  It said something to the effect of Jesus didn't die for my sins because he wasn't a certain skin tone or race of people.  It's arrogant because you are unwilling to accept his sacrifice on the cross.  It's at the same time disrespectful because of the love displayed by Christ and the blood shed for sinful man.  John 3:16-17 is pretty clear about who he did and did not die for.  "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."
When it speaks of the world and God so loving it that includes everyone on it.  If you want to say he didn't die for your sins because of any exemption or excuse you have rejected God and that is a bad place to be and God will humble you.   You can bow willingly or unwillingly to God. Scripture is really clear as to your state as a sinner. Romans 3:23 "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard."  He is Holy we are not.
Philippians 2:5-10
"5You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
6Though he was God,a
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7Instead, he gave up his divine privilegesb;
he took the humble position of a slavec
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,d
8he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
But there is hope.  Ephesians 2:4-5 "But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.  It is only by God's grace that you have been saved."  We couldn't save ourselves if we tried we need the perfect sacrifice and that was Jesus Christ.  God has provided for us even the most arrogant and disrespectful towards his sacrifice he provided for them too.
You have a savior and perfect way for salvation if you but humble yourself.  For the Christian there is a Savior who has been tested that you can relate to.  Hebrews 2:14-18
"14Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who hadg the power of death.15Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
16We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham. 17Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters,h so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. 18Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested."

Do you need my glasses

"Seeking you as a precious jewel Lord to give up I'd be a fool you are my all in all."  Are you seeking or are you sitting on the sidelines?  God wants us to seek him.  Isaiah 55:6-7 "Seek the Lord while you can find him.  Call on him now while he is near.  Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong.  Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.  Yes turn to God, for he will forgive generously."  We have the technology to make a missile seek a target giving off heat.  In the movie Predator the creature targeted with thermal imaging and infrared.  You and I focus and become obsessed with things.  Things aren't the answer.  When we seek God he shows us help, mercy, love, forgiveness and so much more.  It's time to fix your targeting system.  Why you ask?  I'll let the lyrics from Exalt the Name by Sandi Patty answer that first and then I want to present to you Psalms 130.

"He rules the universe, yet hears the humble cry.
Bringing comfort to a broken heart.
The power of his word can split the earth and sky.
Yet mend the lives that sin has torn apart."

Psalm 130

"From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help.  Hear my cry, O Lord.  Pay attention to my prayer.  Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?  But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.  I am counting on the Lord: yes, I am counting on him.  I have put my hope in his word.  I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes more than sentries long for the dawn.  O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord is unfailing love.  His redemption overflows.  He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin."

You want reasons to seek God there they are right there.  So like the game Killzone always tells me when my shooting is off "Aim straight" or "Do you need my glasses."

Psalm 63:1
"  O, God you are my God; I earnestly search for you.  My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water."

The Hills Must Be Climbed

The Hills Must Be Climbed

The patrol it is a curse
To some
To him a release
The channel of water
The ships honk their way along
Sleeping pelicans wait for dawn
For their honking song
The man stands
He picks up his tools
A dowel only spelled with two vowels
Lithium ion causes the light beam
To shine on
Rising armed a bit
Like a vigilante
He must ensure Mr. Bunny
Steers clear of the defenses
Turning he sees
The hills must be climbed
For there he finds
Peace for his mind
Overlooking lights of the refined
Starlight shines over street lights
As he ascends the hill
To the moon his eyes do spill
Clouds swim in the sky
Playing as the world
Spins on by
Watching the moon’s trajectory
The hills must be climbed
To remind
God, you hold the universe
You hold everyone on earth
Created by his very word
Man is finite
The hills must be climbed
To remind
God has not left his throne
And the man on patrol
Does not walk alone

About 2 weeks ago a phrase came to my mind.  “Starlight shines over street lights.”  On 7-7-17 I went on my first patrol at work around 1:30 am and I got to the top of a hill and looked up.  I saw the clouds going by.  To my right was a channel filled with water where boats go by.  I looked at the moon and clouds and remembered the earth was still spinning and all of this had been made simply by God’s spoken word.  When I walk these hills at work I am reminded that God is still on his throne and in control.  On my second patrol at 3:30 am I was walking again and this poem started writing itself in my mind.  I had to hurry back and get pen and paper to get it written down.  I tried to exclude as much of myself from the poem because God was the one at work here in creation.
